Love One Another

Michael’s job has him traveling often.  I am lucky  that I  get to tag along.   I am trying to keep in the habit of creating as when I don’t create, I feel like pieces of me are missing.  I have a small travel art kit to create works in an art journal away from home and my studio.  My normal travel kit has a journal, oil pastels, 2 glue stick, scissors, a little pack of ephemera, some washi tape, white paint in a squeeze bottle,  3 little homemade spray paints, an old credit card, and a handful of sharpies and pens.  When we are going to be on the road longer then 3 days, I will sometimes add to that travel kit.

The one I took to Minnesota had a few more things added as I was gone for a month.  It had some bubble wrap for making prints with it, sand paper to rough edges, a couple rubber stamps to use with my white paint, a few different sized circle stencils and a little bit more ephemera then usual.

We will be traveling to California at the end of this month so I am already thinking about what supplies I will want to take out or add.  I am thinking of adding some watercolors as I have used those before in my travel kit and enjoyed having them.

Love One Another piece was done with my traveling kit in Minnesota.  The background of this piece is oil pastels that I scribble on to the paper. I then take a soft cloth or paper towel to smear them across the paper.  The words love one another were from a Chipolte  take out bag that we picked up on Saturday for lunch while in Minnesota.  I asked my Mom not to throw it as I wanted to cut it up and use it.  The hand  from an art history book on Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel.  I then doodled with a black pen.
