Gutta Resist

local fiber artist has a studio where she creates, teaches, and sells studio lab time at a low. A good friend gathered a group of us together to have a night of silk dying.  We were taught Gutta Resist technique. I made the above scarf. I had a lot of fun with my creative tribe tonight and learning a new art medium. I think it might be addictive. I see myself spending time at Color Creek studio.

Art Journal Kickstarter

I am thrilled to be one of the contributing artists of Art Journal Kickstarter. I am honored to be a part of such a talented group of artists. The book is inspiring with all the delightful art. There are questions that each artist answers about the art piece.

I am not sure I can explain how it feels to see my work published. This is the fourth time and each time I get even more excited than the last. I was ripping the box open eager to see it. I made happy noises of delight seeing all the colorful images. It is a fun book that will inspire those that art journal or want too.

You can buy Art Journal Kickstarter on Amazon or at North Light Shop.

Mandala Making Party

Tomorrow I am having four girlfriends over to make mandala’s that will set intentions for 2015. I have the dining room table covered with supplies.

We will have snacks, wine, and create. I can’t wait as I am sure we will have fun and learn some new things about ourselves as we talk and create.

Birthday Mandala

I love mandalas and offerings that I have seen in photos from Bali.  They are so detailed and beautiful.  This one I made spur of the moment.  Michael and I were taking photos and I bent down to pick up one of those yellow leaves and it came to me to do just a simple quick mandala before we needed to leave for our dinner plans.   I would have loved to make it more elaborate, but decided to just do what I could in the moment and be happy with it.  And I was happy with how it turned out.

As I placed each leaf, I set intentions for my 47th year of life.  One intention was keeping art a focus in my life.  After placing each leaf in a circle, I placed the pine cone in the center sending light and love into the world.

I would like to do this every year.  It felt beautiful and warm and just perfect for setting intention on my birthday.
